Sharing previous experiences of mentoring trainee teachers in mathematics
Analysing the areas of mathematics that trainees often struggle with, and practical strategies for supporting with this
Looking at how to support trainee teachers with specific areas of difficulty in teaching mathematics
What the Core Content Framework for trainee teachers looks like in mathematics teaching
Session 1 will be an opportunity to meet and network with other mentors in the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire area. We will discuss your experiences of mentoring and identify particular areas of difficulty.
We will then use these conversations to help inform the content for the second session, which will focus on particular topics and how to support trainees using Teaching for Mastery approaches.
We will also introduce the Core Content Framework for Initial Teacher Education and examine how trainee development maps to this in a mathematical context.
Who can take part?
Any teachers or leaders in secondary maths departments who have had experience in mentoring or supporting maths trainee teachers, or would like to explore this for the future.
What is the cost?
These sessions are free for teachers in Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire.
